The anniversary exhibition “AFTER FIRE AFTERLIFE” brings together sculptures from the last twenty-five years of the international Kohila Symposium. The exhibition, which features over a hundred works, will open its doors on September 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the power station in the Krulli Quarter. The exhibition is part of the Tallinn Design Festival satellite program.
At the exhibition opening in the Krull Quarter, visitors will be able to view nearly 120 works created by 106 different artists. The works in the exhibition are not treated as individual objects, but are arranged in organic combinations, linking the narratives of different years into a single whole. The exhibition “AFTER FIRE AFTERLIFE” can be viewed as an ecosystem where even the smallest sculpture can find new meaning next to a larger one. The sculptures stand out as unique characters, each with their own story, character, and soul, creating a dialogue between fire, time, and the creator.
As part of the anniversary exhibition, visitors can also take part in a varied program. There will be several curator tours, opportunities to participate in moderated artist talks and panels. Workshops will be held in collaboration with ceramics students, and there will also be a pop-up sale of small works created over the years at the Symposium.
The exhibition will open at the Krulli Quarter Power Plant (Kopli 70b) on September 29 at 5:30 p.m. and will remain open until October 19. The exhibition and its program are free of charge for all interested parties.Sponsors and partners: Estonian Cultural Endowment, Estonian Ceramists’s Association, MTÜ Disainiöö, Estonian Academy of Arts, Antalis, Boardic, Punch!
