Katarzyna Miściur is Polish ceramic artist. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, Poland – she holds MFA in Ceramic Art and Design, (2012) and MFA in Restoration of Ceramics and Glass (2016).
Additionally, in 2010 she studied at the University of Porto, Portugal.
Katarzyna participated in numerous biennale, residencies and exhibitions, among others: Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center, Denmark (Young Artist In Residence 2018, Project Network 2019); IX Ceramic Symposium LAB-ORO 2017 (Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko); 48th International Ceramic and Sculpture Symposium, Bolesławiec 2012; Ceramic Symposium „Nebocadske Keramicke Leto”, Czech Republic 2009.
She participated in wood-firings in Poland, Denmark, Czech Republic and Estonia. She works mostly with slab building technique, but enjoys exploring and experimenting with other techniques too. Her favourite firing technique is soda wood-firing.
“In my creative work I draw inspiration in the contrasts between nature and the world created by people. I am concerned about how much the natural environment is being replaced by artificial human creations. I express these feelings in the form of ceramic sculptures, that take the shape of various symbolic objects and silhouettes, or are my envisioned landscape.”
