My name is Manuel Seita, I am 53 years old and I am a Portuguese artist. I live in the town of Almodôvar in the Baixo Alentejo region, in the south of Portugal.
I discovered pottery when I decided to take a professional course according to both my skills and taste for the arts. In 1990, at the age of 20, I took a pottery course with Master António Gaspar Velhinho in Reguengos de Monsaraz. This course was so important and impactful in my life that I never abandoned ceramics.
In 1993, I did a ceramic internship for 3 months in the workshop of the artist Liberato Mazzarella in the city of Turin. Italy
In 1997, I did a Rakú Workshop at CENCAL in Caldas da Rainha under the guidance of Senya Sonobe (JP).
I also did in 1997 Workshop II, Sculptural Space under the guidance of Herculano Elias (PT) and Emidio Galassi (IT) at CENCAL in Caldas da Rainha.
In 2005 I graduated in sculpture in the visual arts course from the Higher School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha.
I also worked in traditional pottery in Germany from 2014 to 2020 for different periods at the company Keramik Im-Hof.
Recently, in 2023, I held an Artistic Residency that I called Mutable Body at ICS – Internacional Ceramics Studio, in the city of Kecskemét, Hungary.
Currently, my workshop is located in the village of Gomes Aires, near Almodôvar, where I spend much of my time and focus on ceramics and reflection around all creative processes.
