Bio
Tanel Rander is an Estonian artist, curator and art critic. The central interest of his work is subjectivity and its formation through internal and external processes. His creative journey began in the 2000s and was mainly based on text and performativity. In the past decade, his work has been mostly related to Eastern European identity and decoloniality. In recent years, Rander has been interested in both the individual and collective psyche. His last solo exhibition was “Angelus Novus” (2022 at the Hobusepea Gallery), which manifested a distrust of history and the release of suppressed creative resources.
Rander’s last curatorial exhibition was “Goodbye, Ida! Goodbye, Narcissus!” (2023) at the EKKM, which treated Eastern Europe as a traumatized and narcissistic collective psyche.
